"Hatha Yoga teaches us to use the body as the bow, asana as the arrow, and the soul the target."

~ B.K.S. Iyengar

Hatha is a very general term that encompasses many of the physical types of yoga. 'Ha' means the sun and 'tha' means the moon.

Hatha Yoga refers to the practice of bringing harmony to the two main energies in the human body - the energy of the moon and the energy of the sun, with the goal to bring balance to the body, mind and spirit via movement and breathing. An advanced practitioner uses the physical postures to prepare for sitting in meditation.

Ma Yoga offers eclectic yoga classes that combine various styles: vinyasa (flow yoga), Iyengar (alignment and balance) and power yoga for fitness.
